April Updates: Security, Search, New Models, and More

April 12, 2026
TeamTeacher

A handful of meaningful updates this month — security improvements, smarter knowledge bases, more model options, and some new agent capabilities.

New Marketing Home Page

We updated the TeamTeacher home page as part of ongoing work to make the platform easier to find and navigate. If you know a teacher who would benefit from TeamTeacher, we would love it if you shared it with them!

We also welcome suggestions for our website and documentation — reach out anytime at support@teamteacher.ai.

New Teacher Home Page

Your app home has a new address — /home — and a whole new look. The old Library page has been replaced with a redesigned dashboard built around how you actually use TeamTeacher day-to-day.

The new Home includes:

  • Usage stats — a quick view of your activity over time
  • Recent conversations — jump back into where you left off without digging through menus
  • More to come — this is just the start

We are actively building out Home and would love your input. What else do you want to see there? Send us your ideas at support@teamteacher.ai — we read everything.

Improved File Security

We have strengthened how files are stored and accessed in TeamTeacher. All files you upload — and all files stored in TeamTeacher — are now handled more securely.

Everything should work exactly as before. If you notice any broken file links, try refreshing the page — that should resolve it. If you continue to see issues, let us know at support@teamteacher.ai.

Knowledge Bases: Hybrid Search and Better Context

Knowledge base search has been upgraded with more advanced hybrid search support, combining semantic and keyword matching for more relevant results.

We also added a "Get Knowledge Base Details" tool that helps agents better understand what knowledge bases are available and what they contain — so your agents can make smarter decisions about when and how to use them.

Experimental OpenRouter Models (Beta)

We have added experimental support for open models via OpenRouter. This gives you access to LLMs from a wider range of organizations and research teams, so you can see how different approaches to AI compare for your teaching workflows.

This is an early beta — expect some rough edges, and let us know what you think.

New Tool: Create Folder

Your AI agent can now create folders for you during a conversation. If you are working through a planning task and want to organize your materials, just ask — the agent can set up a folder on your behalf.

Usage Tracking (Coming Soon)

We have started building out per-user cost and usage tracking. This is early infrastructure work — nothing changes for users yet — but we want to be upfront: as TeamTeacher grows, we will need to introduce limits for free users to keep the service sustainable. We will share more details as this takes shape, and we appreciate your understanding.
