Summer at TeamTeacher: Smarter Files, AP Courses, and a New Way to Share
It's been a busy season. Here's everything new at TeamTeacher this summer, in one place.
Files, Leveled Up
Your Files page just got more useful. Search now looks inside your PDFs, not just filenames — so if what you're looking for is buried on page 12, it'll still turn up. You can star your favorites, drop files into folders, and add a quick description so you remember what something's for later. Recent and Starred sections in the sidebar keep it all within reach.
This has been rolling out gradually and is now live for everyone.
PDFs You Can Actually Rely On
There are two ways your agent works with a PDF, and knowing the difference helps.
Right in the moment: drop a PDF into a chat message and ask about it immediately — works on any paid plan, no setup needed.
Later, or from your Files: turn on PDF parsing in Account settings (a one-time toggle, off by default) and TeamTeacher converts the PDF to clean text behind the scenes. That's what lets your agent pick the same PDF back up in a future conversation, or open it from your Files list — without it, all your agent can do is hand you back a filename and a link.
One thing worth knowing: PDFs attached live in chat top out at 100 pages on Claude (other models allow more) — we'll flag it before you hit send if a file's too big. The background parsing setting itself isn't limited by page count, just file size.
This setting finished its rollout this month, so it's no longer a beta — just a setting worth turning on.
AP Courses Join Our Knowledge Bases
We've added a knowledge base covering all 36 AP courses — frameworks, unit weightings, learning objectives, and sample questions. It's early days (we're calling it experimental, same as a few of our state-standards knowledge bases), and today it's available through Iris, our generalist agent. If you teach AP, give it a try and tell us what you think.
Separately, the tool that searches across multiple knowledge bases at once and hands back one clear answer is now free for every account, subscriber or not — and it's gotten better about citing its sources accurately.
Google Drive, Both Ways
Open any document, click Share → Google Drive, and it lands in your Drive as a real, editable Google Doc — new this update (it's actually been quietly live for a while; we just never announced it). Importing a Doc or Sheet the other way has been around since our February update. Exporting or importing is a one-time action — we don't maintain access to your Google Drive, and you can pick a different Google account for each document.
Share a Conversation or Document — Just Like That
Brand new: you can share a conversation or a document with a public, read-only link — no login required for whoever opens it.
- Conversations: click Share in the conversation header, turn on public sharing, and copy the link. Handy for showing a colleague how a lesson plan came together with your agent.
- Documents: click Publish on any document, with an optional password if you want one. Great for handing a handout to students or families who don't have a TeamTeacher account.
You're always in control — turn sharing off any time, or generate a fresh link to retire an old one. This one's brand new, so if something looks off, let us know — we'd love your feedback.
Print, Properly
Documents now have a Print button that gives you a clean printout — just your title, description, and content, no sidebar or app chrome in the way. Save it as a PDF or send it to a real printer, straight from your browser.
Behind the Scenes
A couple of things are cooking in our internal testing group and aren't out to everyone yet: Agent Skills, a way to teach your agent a process once instead of re-explaining it every time, and longer-term agent memory, so your agent can carry your preferences between conversations. Nothing to look for in your account today, but we wanted you to know what's next.
On the Horizon
We're also laying early groundwork for school-level features. It's genuinely early — internal testing only, no firm timeline yet — but we'll have more to share once there's something real to show.
